TCU is in search of a candidate who is looking for professional growth, mentorship and to be surrounded by a collaborative team environment.

Working closely with the VP of Finance and head of other departments in a collaborative environment, the Financial Controller will take full ownership of all accounting, forecasting and reporting functions for

all projects and operating companies.


Major Responsibilities

  • Ensure that accounting records related to all projects and operating companies are in compliance with internal financial accounting policies (both ASPE and IFRS) and regulatory requirements (Construction Lien Act)
  • Supervise the day-to-day activities of the accounting department managing all aspects of the general and project cost ledgers
  • Manage, coach and mentor the team of accounting and finance professionals
  • Create and maintain various proformas for investment opportunities, land acquisition, financing, and other potential development projects
  • Review monthly project cost reports and investigate variances
  • Work closely with the head of departments to maintain accurate projections and reduce costs
  • Coordinate monthly progress reports with cost consultants
  • Coordinate monthly, quarterly and annual reporting to various stakeholders
  • Establish and maintain rolling cash flow forecast for all projects and operating companies
  • Collaborate with the external accountants for annual assurance engagements
    (audits, review engagements and notice to readers)
  • Manage tax filing processes to ensure compliance with corporate tax, HST and other Government filing and remittances
  • Assist the VP of Finance with various loan applications



  • Professional accounting designation (CPA)
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in a supervisory capacity
  • Specific experience in project costing in the real estate industry and/or multi company environment is considered a strong asset
  • Proficiency in ERP accounting systems ad office productivity applications required
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to assess complex situations and make effective recommendations
  • Results-oriented and self-motivated with proactive work habits
  • Proven leader with the ability to manage, engage and develop the team of accounting and finance professionals
  • Strong interpersonal skills combined with the ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing
  • Excellent organizational skills and capability to effectively manage priorities while meeting timelines
  • Committed to continuous learning, growth, and education
